Skill Simulation Assessment

Censeo has developed a new, innovative assessment system. TalentSIM, for measuring skills critical to success in leadership positions. It is an online assessment, based on job simulation, and can be used for both selection and development purposes. We are in the process of developing other assessment systems, and the next one to be released will be for sales professionals.

The Business Need
Job simulation is the most accurate way of measuring certain competencies, such as leadership skills and sales skills. Presenting participants with realistic situations, and observing their behaviors, provides a great deal of assessment fidelity and depth. A wide variety of situations can be presented which measure different skills important to success on the job. This is the concept behind an assessment center – observing an individual’s performance in several job-related exercises.

While assessment centers provide greater accuracy than any single skill assessment method, the challenge companies face is that they are very costly to develop, and costly and time consuming to run. The business need is to gain as many of the advantages of assessment centers as possible, while avoiding the cost and time/resource requirements.

The Solution: Censeo's TalentSIM
TalentSIM is a competency based assessment approach using job simulation technology. Participants are presented with a series of scenarios, and at various points they indicate how they would respond. The scenarios are realistic and engaging, using background information, pictures, sound files, reference documents, and video clips. Unlike an assessment center, a very large number of behavioral measures can be collected in a relatively short period of time, and the methodology doesn't depend on the subjective judgments of assessors.

As with all of Censeo’s assessments, the TalentSIM provides valuable and easy to understand individual feedback reports, which are available immediately after the assessment is completed. The reports show the total score, competency scores, key behavioral skills which are strengths and development needs, and development suggestions. TalentSIM also has powerful group reporting functionality to understand aggregate strengths and development needs.
