Censeo Announces the Early Adopter Release of TalentSIM: An Online Job Simulation Assessment for Leaders
Online job simulation positioned to be the most challenging and accurate leadership assessment available on the market today.

TalentSIM is a challenging and interactive online assessment designed to measure the competencies and skills that make today’s leaders successful. 

During the 2-hour experience delivered via the Internet, participants get a chance to take on the roles of five different leaders reacting to realistic business issues.  At key times in the assessment, participants are asked to weigh in on how THEY would handle particular situations, and how THEY would go about making decisions.  In addition to video vignettes, participants are provided with information such as emails, charts or graphs, or employee performance records in order to set goals or solve business problems.

The simulation measures the following seven leadership competencies:

  1. Planning and goal setting,
  2. Driving for results,
  3. Influencing and motivating others,
  4. Problem solving and decision making,
  5. Developing people,
  6. Building effective teams,
  7. Leading and managing change.

Once the leadership assessment is completed, participants receive an intuitive feedback report that outlines their overall performance against the norm, their personal competency and skill results, and a customized list of development suggestions to help increase their leadership capabilities.

TalentSIM was developed in partnership with 12 major companies from different industries.  These partners were instrumental in helping define the competencies and skills to be measured, as well as validating the overall design requirements.  Subsequent steps in the development of TalentSIM included: 1) creating realistic scenarios, situations, and assessment items which accurately measure the competencies and skills, 2) production of the media elements including video, sound, pictures, and reference materials, and 3) programming the actual assessment experience, scoring, and reporting.

During the recent pre-release preview of TalentSIM at the Society of Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) 2008 Annual Conference in Chicago, IL, attendees’ reactions revealed two primary themes.  First, HR and training professionals viewed the online leadership assessment as a great way to introduce more objectivity into their succession planning and selection efforts, rather than making important leadership decisions solely based on a manager’s recommendation.  Second, attendees quickly saw the utility of TalentSIM to narrow down the pool of leaders who are offered the opportunity to participate in a company’s more labor-intensive and expensive assessment center.  “By sending only the best of the best to our company’s 2-day leadership assessment center, I could easily save 30%-40% on the total cost of our program,” remarked one SHRM member.
